<strong>Joint</strong> <strong>Task</strong> <strong>Force</strong> Logistics<br />
contracting support within the JOA. This support will be coordinated with the lead Service<br />
for contracting (if appointed by the GCC).<br />
n. Exercise staff supervision or cognizance over applicable military engineering matters<br />
(e.g., construction, maintenance, and site development).<br />
o. Coordinate maintenance, recovery, and salvage operations to ensure economy of<br />
inter-Service and HN resources, even though these are primarily a Service versus J-4<br />
responsibility.<br />
p. Assist the JTF surgeon in developing the logistic aspects of the JTF’s HSS system.<br />
Assist the surgeon in the development of annex Q (Medical Services) to CJTF’s plans and<br />
orders, if required.<br />

Support.<br />
q. Coordinate joint mortuary affairs, including the return of remains. Mortuary affairs<br />
include the responsibilities for coordinating search and recovery, identification, care, and<br />
evacuation or disposition of deceased personnel within the theater. The responsibility<br />
extends not only to US forces, but also to multinational, civilian, third country, and adversary<br />
dead. Mortuary affairs in a DSCA scenario (i.e., JTF operations within the US) requires<br />
close coordination with civil authorities to ensure compliance with applicable statutes and<br />
established procedures.<br />

r. With the PM, coordinate support for returning EPWs or detainees, civilian internees,<br />
displaced civilians, and other detained or retained persons.<br />
s. Refine logistic planning guidance, ensure logistic-related activities are conducted to<br />
eliminate OPSEC vulnerabilities, and support military deception initiatives.<br />
t. Maintain liaison with the other JTF staff agencies, subordinate task forces, and<br />
component commands.<br />
u. Coordinate agreements, transactions, and implementing instructions with the<br />
appropriate component and multinational points of contact for US and multinational mutual<br />
support logistic exchange issues.<br />
v. Provide reporting guidance and ensure Service components use published procedures<br />
for positive control of personnel and assets during deployment, sustainment, and<br />
redeployment operations.<br />
w. Coordinate with the JTF J-1 to establish personnel accountability operations in the<br />
JOA.<br />
