transportation movement requirements; coordinate the<br />

operation of transportation nodes within the JOA<br />

including airports, seaports, and beaches; identify and<br />

coordinate host-nation support and local resource<br />

requirements with the civil-military operations center<br />

or primary agency; identify theater requirements for<br />

contract support against existing contracting assets;<br />

coordinate agreements, transactions, and<br />

implementing instructions with the appropriate<br />

component and multinational points of contact for US<br />

and multinational mutual support logistic exchange<br />

issues.<br />

Logistics Staff Organizations<br />

<strong>Joint</strong> logistic operations center serves as the JTF<br />

J-4 operations center for all logistic functions and<br />

staff organizations and can provide the JTF with<br />

logistic oversight, coordination, and control of<br />

logistic functions. The joint movement center<br />

implements the CJTF’s taskings and priorities for<br />

movement. The JTF contracting office, working<br />

with the geographic CCDR logistic procurement<br />

support board or joint contracting center, is<br />

established (with warranted contracting officers) to<br />

coordinate contracting requirements for and<br />

assisting in the acquisition of local facilities,<br />

supplies, services, and support. In most cases, the<br />

CJTF will direct the JTF J-4 to establish and operate<br />

a joint mortuary affairs office.<br />

Policy Directorate<br />

The J-5 assists the commander in planning and<br />

preparation of joint plans, orders, and associated<br />

estimates of the situation.<br />

At the discretion of the CJTF, and based on factors<br />

such as size and expected duration of the CJTF, a<br />

policy division may be established within the JTF J-5.<br />

J-5 Organization A notional JTF J-5 organization consists of the<br />

following sections: the plans directorate,<br />

administration, plans, policy, deployment support,<br />

joint planning group, and strategy.<br />
