Vision - A Safe World-Class Research and
Development Centre that is Recognized
and Admired for its People, Performance,
Progressiveness and Partnerships.
Mission - Conduct high-quality Research and
Development projects to provide efficient,
environmentally acceptable and costeffective
solutions for ADNOC and its group of
companies’ upstream and downstream needs
and to develop a recognized and admired R&D
culture to attract and train top R&D talent in
the UAE and the region.

R&D Guidelines:
o The ADNOC vision is to be able to conduct
all EOR related studies and R&D projects
in Abu Dhabi
o The need to focus on industrial R&D
projects will support Abu Dhabi’s field
development plans
o The joint R&D projects with partner
universities at the PI must be based
on developing in-house capabilities,
transferring knowledge and developing
UAE nationals
o The selection of the best universities/
research organizations that have niche
capabilities in those areas of R&D that
interest us
o The PI will develop a ranked R&D portfolio
based on ADNOC’s technical challenges
o The PI will provide ADNOC with the 2013
R&D budget and a list of projects
III. Future Plans / Initiatives
As per ADNOC’s guidelines and the Governing
Board’s demand, work is underway to finalize
the R&D organization chart by the end of the
year and we will submit to ADNOC a clear R&D
roadmap and a 5-year business plan. We will
then seek ADNOC’s approval for the new R&D
organization and funding for all the projects.
The PI will continue to develop R&D teams
for the remaining categories. All the new
collaborative R&D proposals will be based on
the strength of the partner universities and the
related equipment (constructed or purchased)
will be shipped to the PI Research Center. The
work scope will ensure the PI’s equal (50/50)
contribution to the research.
