Teachers face the challenge of enhancing students’ production and<br />

encouraging self-direct learning outside the classroom. How can we<br />

accomplish such goals when teaching a visually-impaired student? In this<br />

talk, I share my experience on the use of apps in order to promote the<br />

independence and inclusion of a visually-impaired student within a group<br />

of sighted classmates.<br />

Interactive whiteboard in teaching English for students with special<br />

needs<br />

I'll report on a project that aimed to see if the use of interactive whiteboard<br />

technology could result in less confusion and limit distractions to the<br />

learning experience. The project explored the extent to which an<br />

interactive whiteboard can help students with special needs and the<br />

advantages and disadvantages of using it in such a context.<br />

Developing and managing an eBook project from concept to completion<br />

Subsequent to integrating mobile technology into its teaching programs,<br />

Zayed University’s ABP recently launched its first in-house produced<br />

eTextbook for language learning. This session presents the critical steps<br />

involved in the production and implementation of eBooks in terms of digital<br />

development and project management. It also contributes to a better<br />

understanding of the challenges involved and informs potential eBook<br />

developers.<br />
