機 記 錄 下 一 個 個 動 人 的 故 事 , 以 此 來 分 享 關 於 人 性

訪 李 雲 翔 時 , 他 正 在 紐 約 籌 備 著 下 一 部 影 片
採 的 拍 攝 。 自 從 他 執 導 的 紀 錄 片 《 大 衛 戰 紅
魔 》(Davids & Goliath) 在 全 球 最 大 的 網 絡 電 影
節 「Viewster 網 絡 影 展 」 上 , 獲 得 了 全 球 影 迷 和 電
影 界 專 業 人 士 投 票 選 舉 的 金 獎 和 五 萬 元 獎 金 之 後 ,
他 對 自 己 的 電 影 之 路 更 有 信 心 了 。「 我 又 找 到 了 不
錯 的 素 材 , 我 希 望 自 己 的 下 一 部 影 片 可 以 在 各 方 面
有 更 大 的 提 升 。」
突 如 其 來 的 變 故
初 見 李 雲 翔 的 人 , 恐 怕 很 難 把 文 質 彬 彬 的 他 和
電 影 聯 繫 起 來 。 他 說 自 己 是 中 國 東 北 人 , 在 移 民 來
到 溫 哥 華 之 前 從 未 想 過 會 做 電 影 。「 我 的 家 裏 有 生
意 , 我 當 年 過 著 衣 食 無 憂 的 生 活 , 我 18 歲 時 前 往 新
西 蘭 留 學 , 學 的 是 商 科 和 心 理 學 。」 就 在 未 來 無 限
廣 闊 的 世 界 正 向 他 敞 開 的 時 候 , 一 場 巨 大 的 變 故 如
晴 天 霹 靂 一 般 降 臨 到 了 他 的 頭 上 。
「 那 天 剛 考 完 期 末 考 試 , 我 的 電 話 突 然 響 了 起
來 , 父 親 讓 我 趕 緊 回 家 。」 不 知 道 發 生 了 甚 麼 事 的
李 雲 翔 第 二 天 便 飛 回 了 中 國 的 家 鄉 , 他 看 到 的 是 自
己 母 親 冰 冷 的 遺 體 。「 他 們 沒 敢 在 電 話 上 告 訴 我 ,
怕 我 受 不 了 , 我 的 母 親 在 一 場 車 禍 中 去 世 了 。」 來
不 及 悲 傷 , 做 為 家 中 唯 一 的 兒 子 , 李 雲 翔 必 須 先 陪
Leon Lee was once, unexpectedly, the
20-year-old CEO of a medical-device firm
in northeast China. Now he makes movies.
From his new base in Vancouver, in fact, he’s
working on his second documentary (his third
film), and just beginning to taste the success
that he has worked so relentlessly to achieve
since emigrating eight years ago.
Getting a mass audience for a serious documentary
about human rights atrocities is never
easy. Doing that as an outsider — both to the
West, and to the documentary film business
— is even tougher. Lee achieved both after
submitting his premiere documentary, Human
Harvest (also known as Davids & Goliath), to
the Viewster Online Film Festival (VOFF)
and other festivals worldwide. Viewster is an
online-movie platform founded in 2007 that
attracts 40 million visitors per month.
In the VOFF, his film went up against hundreds
of others for votes by the public, finally
making a shortlist of ten. A panel of experts
selected the winners.
