DRIVING THE MACHINE
OPERATING ON SOFT GROUND
• Avoid traveling on very soft ground that does not have
sufficient strength to firmly support the machine.
• If the machine is operated on very soft ground or becomes
stuck, it may be necessary to clean the track frame
area.
• Swing the upperstructure 90 ° and lower the bucket to
raise one track off the ground. Make sure to keep the
angle between the boom and arm 90 to 110 ° and position
the bucket’s round side on the ground.
• Rotate the raised track back and forth to remove mud and
dirt.
• After lowering the track to the ground, select slow travel
speed. Carefully move the machine to firm ground.
• Utilize the boom and arm functions to pull the machine
toward firm ground.
• Tow the machine if the machine becomes stuck but only
if the engine is still operating. Be sure to attach a tow
line correctly. (Refer to the “TOWING MACHINE A SHORT
DISTANCE” section on the next page.)
RAISE ONE TRACK USING BOOM AND ARM
WARNING: Keep the angle between boom and arm 90
to 110 ° and position the bucket’s round side on the
ground.
90 to 110 ˚
Swing the upperstructure 90 ° and lower the bucket to raise
track off ground. Do not dig bucket teeth into the ground
when using the hoe bucket reversed.
Place blocks under machine frame to support the machine.
IMPORTANT: When the machine is modified as a face
shovel by installing the hoe bucket in reverse,
avoid raising the machine above the
ground using the front attachment with the
bucket cylinder fully extended. Excessive
loads will be applied to the pins around the
bucket and the bucket cylinder, resulting in
breakage of the pins.
