MAINTENANCE<br />

4 Replace Hydraulic Oil Tank Filter<br />

--- every 1000 hours<br />

1. Park the machine on a level surface.<br />

2. Lower the bucket to the ground.<br />

3. Turn the auto-idle switch off.<br />

IMPORTANT: The turbocharger may be damaged if the<br />

engine is not properly shut down.<br />

4. Run the engine at slow idle speed without load for five<br />

minutes.<br />

5. Stop the engine. Remove the key from the key switch.<br />

6. Pull the pilot control shut-off lever to the LOCK position.<br />

CAUTION: The hydraulic oil tank is pressurized. Push<br />

the pressure release button on the air breather before<br />

removing the air breather.<br />

7. Push the pressure release button on the hydraulic oil tank<br />

to release pressure.<br />

NOTE:<br />

There is spring (4) tension under cover (2). Hold<br />

down cover (2) when removing last two bolts (1).<br />

8. Hold down filter cover (2) against light spring (4) load<br />

when removing last two bolts (1). Remove filter cover (2).<br />

9. Remove spring (4), and element (5).<br />

NOTE:<br />

Remove element (5) and inspect for metal particles<br />

and debris in the bottom of the filter can. Excessive<br />

amounts of brass and steel particles can indicate a<br />

failed hydraulic pump, motor, valve or an impending<br />

failure. A rubber type of material can indicate<br />

cylinder packing failure.<br />

10. Discard element (5) and O-ring (3).<br />

11. Install a new element (5) and spring (4).<br />

12. Install filter cover (2) with a new O-ring (3).<br />

13. Install and tighten bolts (1) to 50 N•m (5 kgf•m, 36 lbf•ft).<br />
