OPERATING THE MACHINE<br />

EMERGENCY BOOM LOWERING PROCEDURE<br />

(Without hose-rupture safety valve)<br />

WARNING: Prevent personal injury. Confirm that no<br />

one is under the front attachment before starting the<br />

procedure below.<br />

ZX180-3, 200-3, 270-3, 330-3 class<br />

If the engine stalls and cannot be restarted, lower the boom<br />

to lower the bucket to the ground referring to the emergency<br />

boom lowering procedure stated below.<br />

IMPORTANT: Never loosen screw (2) more than 2 turns.<br />

Screw (2) may come off.<br />

1. Loosen lock nut (1). Loosen screw (2) one half of a turn.<br />

The boom will start to lower. The boom lowering speed<br />

can be somewhat adjusted by loosening screw (2) more.<br />

2. After the bucket is lowered to the ground, retighten<br />

screw (2), then lock nut (1) to the specifications below.<br />

Lock Nut (1)<br />

Tool : 13 mm<br />

Torque : 13 N•m (1.3 kgf•m, 9.4 lbf•ft)<br />

Screw (2)<br />

Tool : 4 mm (Hexagonal wrench)<br />

Torque : 7 N•m (0.7 kgf•m, 5.0 lbf•ft)<br />

IMPORTANT: Excessive leakage may result if screw (2) and<br />

lock nut (1) are tightened insufficiently. Be<br />

sure to retighten screw (2) and lock nut (1) to<br />

specifications.<br />
