TEXT 40<br />
sri-bhagavan uvaca<br />
partha naiveha namutra<br />
vinasas tasya vidyate<br />
na hi kalyana-krt kascid<br />
durgatim tata gacchati<br />
The Supreme Lord said: O Partha, one who practices yoga never meets<br />
with destruction either in this world or in the next. One who does good for all,<br />
never overcomes by evil.<br />
TEXT 41<br />
prapya punya-krtam lokan<br />
usitva sasvatih samah<br />
sucinam srimatam gehe<br />
yoga-bhrasto 'bhijayate<br />
The defaulters of Astanga yoga are of two kinds, viz. (i) those of short<br />
timed practice, and (ii) those of long timed practice. Those who have fallen<br />
from short time practice of Astanga yoga, after enjoying heavenly bliss for a<br />
very long period take birth either in the family of a righteous Brahmin or in the<br />
family of a wealthy person.<br />
TEXT 42<br />
atha va yoginam eva<br />
kule bhavati dhimatam<br />
etad dhi durlabhataramloke<br />
janma yad idrsam<br />
But those who have fallen after a long practice of Astanga yoga, take<br />
birth in the family of wise yogis. A birth in such a pious family is very rare.<br />
TEXT 43<br />
tatra tam buddhi-samyogam<br />
labhate paurva-dehikam<br />
yatate ca tato bhuyah<br />
samsiddhau kuru-nandana<br />
O son of Kuru, taking birth in such a family, he regains his previous divine<br />
intelligence and again strives to achieve perfection in that yoga.<br />
TEXT 44<br />
purvabhyasena tenaiva<br />
hriyate hy avaso 'pi sah<br />
jijnasur api yogasya<br />
sabda-brahmativartate<br />
Due to divine intelligence of his previous life, an inquisitive yogi easily<br />
overcomes the ritualistic principles prescribed in the Vedas.<br />
TEXT 45<br />
prayatnad yatamanas tu<br />
yogi samsuddha-kilbisah<br />
