Frequencies of any adverseevent varied from 0.3% in a study from Nigeria (5minor complications reported out of 1563 circumcisionsin the hospital over a 15 year period [7]) to 12%(15/129) in South Africa (mostly bleeding, haematomaand infection) and 17.5% (28/160) among boys circumcisedwith a new disposable device (the ShenghuanDisposable Minimally Invasive CircumcisionAnastomosis Device) in China (mainly mild oedema(10%) but also moderate oedema and 2 cases ofinfection).
