MERLINS RALLIART & EVOLUTION-X TUNING GUIDESECTION 3 – DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES3.01-OBD-II DTC INTRODUCTIONThe Diagnostic Trouble Code numbering follows a standardized structure. AllDiagnostic Trouble Codes have a letter followed by a 4-digit number (e.g. P1234).The first letter indicates the type of code:P = Power-trainC = ChassisB = BodyU = Network CommunicationThe remaining 4-digit number specifies the problem within that system. The faultcodes documented here have been abbreviated and restricted for simplicity to afour cylinder twin-cam with two oxygen sensors. The RALLIART and EvoX coding has many sophisticated constraints embedded inthe ROM that are not in earlier versions of the Evolution. What typically happens iswhen you make modifications to improve breathing and increase boost levels, oneor more of the boundary or limit tables or timers will be exceeded, thus triggeringsome DTC.This must have been a constant source of irritation through-out 2009 but the tuningcommunity, spearheaded by tephra de-coding the various ROMs, have found waysto get around the problems.REV: 0.K merlin@three.com.au Page 30 of 134
