MERLINS RALLIART & EVOLUTION-X <strong>TUNING</strong> <strong>GUIDE</strong>4.02-FUEL <strong>TUNING</strong> – STOCK LO-OCTANE FUEL MAPThis is the LO-OCTANE FUEL MAP, which the ECU interpolates with the HI-OCTANEFUEL MAP, depending on knock activity.When the ECU detects detonation, with a KNOCKSUM greater than six, the “octanenumber” that the ECU has stored is reduced. If detonation continues to occur, thenthe ECU will interpolate between the hi-low-octane maps, with a calculation usingthe octane number.The ECU will then continue to operate proportionally between the high <strong>and</strong> lowoctane maps, until an absence of knock is noted in a boost condition (whenoperating above the OCTANE UPDATE THRESHOLD), at which point the octanenumber is progressively increased <strong>and</strong> operation rapidly reverts back to the HIOCTANE FUEL MAP.The table scaling normally matches the HI OCTANE map, but does not have to bethe same. The graphing function can be used with the fuel maps, this helps withspotting <strong>and</strong> smoothing any errant peaks <strong>and</strong> hollows.REV: 0.K merlin@three.com.au Page 36 of 134
