MERLINS RALLIART & EVOLUTION-X TUNING GUIDESECTION 1 – INTRODUCTION TO ECUFLASH TUNING1.1-INTRODUCTION and ACKNOWLEDGMENTSThis tuning guide was concocted primarily for my own amusement and use, asthere is an awful lot of knowledge and useful information available in the Evocommunity, but the details are not so easy to remember. There was clearly a needfor a comprehensive document that described what EcuFLASH can do, and how todo it.EcuFLASH was written by Colby BOLES (TACTRIX) and our collective thanks toColby for the effort to get flashing the RALLIART and EvoX working so well. Theremust have been many setbacks and headaches along the way.The definition files we use are largely the result of the un-paid hard work ofenthusiasts like tephra, mrfred, SiC and gunzo, who have done most of the codedis-assembly, finding the maps and tables, and then describing them with correctscaling and axis.Sitting alongside EcuFLASH is an equally important and useful program, calledEvoScan. This program is used to log what is going on inside the ECU. Pretty-muchall the useful engine parameters can be logged and this write-up includes manyreferences to it. EvoScan was written by Hamish from limitless in New Zealand.The third application that we will or should use is Brad BARNHILLs powercalculation and graphing program, Virtual Dyno. I use this application with everytune and it has proved itself to be invaluable. So thanks Brad for providing this toolto the tuning community.As I have indicated, this tuning guide is not just my input, it would not have beenpossible without the knowledge and generous contributions made by tuners andprogrammers in the Evo community, especially those who regularly contribute tothe forums of evolutionm.net.Tuned maps provided by GST Motorsports have been used throughout this guideand should provide the reader with some great examples and insight into 4B11Ttuning.REV: 0.K merlin@three.com.au Page 7 of 134
