PLAYERS(a)(b)(c)Team with the greatest combined total points;Team with the highest combined ranking from the previousweek; andTeam with the fewest combined number of <strong>Tour</strong>namentsplayed over the previous 52-week period.iii.iv.For entries and seeding, unranked players will be assigned arank of one (1) plus the lowest player listed on the most currentranking used for the acceptances.Any teams not making the cut become Alternates for the Sign-In day. To remain eligible for subsequent days, Alternatesmust initially have signed in as set forth in sub-Section aabove, and also follow the procedures for Openings in theMain Draw - page 53.d. Preliminary MatchesIf it becomes necessary to play a doubles preliminary match in theMain Draw, the last two (2) doubles teams accepted into the<strong>Tour</strong>nament based upon the most current ranking used for seeding(excluding Wild Cards) will play a preliminary match for one (1)spot in the draw.<strong>The</strong> losers of the preliminary match will receive 1st round prizemoney and 1st round ranking points.Prize money payment to the loser of the preliminary match will notconstitute an additional expense to the <strong>Tour</strong>nament; it will be paidby the <strong>WTA</strong>.<strong>The</strong> doubles team who wins the preliminary match will receiveprize money and ranking points for the round reached in the draw.In addition, the team will receive 25% of 2nd round prize money(paid by the <strong>WTA</strong>) and 35% of 2nd round ranking points.<strong>The</strong> <strong>WTA</strong> will reimburse per diem expenses to the losers of the preliminarymatch per the Rules.e.
