THE SONY ERICSSON <strong>WTA</strong> TOURI. INTRODUCTIONA. DESCRIPTION<strong>The</strong> <strong>Sony</strong> <strong>Ericsson</strong> <strong>WTA</strong> <strong>Tour</strong> (the “<strong>WTA</strong> <strong>Tour</strong>” or “<strong>Tour</strong>”) is an internationalaward competition open to all female players.<strong>Tour</strong>naments on the <strong>WTA</strong> <strong>Tour</strong> are connected by a points system in whichplayers earn ranking points based on the <strong>Tour</strong>nament category level andtheir performance at each <strong>Tour</strong>nament.B. ADMINISTRATION<strong>The</strong> <strong>WTA</strong> <strong>Tour</strong> is administered and governed by <strong>WTA</strong> <strong>Tour</strong>, Inc. (“<strong>WTA</strong>”), aUS registered corporation whose members are the players, its recognized<strong>WTA</strong> <strong>Tour</strong> <strong>Tour</strong>naments worldwide, and the International <strong>Tennis</strong> Federation(“ITF”). <strong>The</strong> Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) of the <strong>WTA</strong> is responsible for theday-to-day operations of the <strong>WTA</strong> <strong>Tour</strong>. <strong>The</strong> Board of Directors of the <strong>WTA</strong>is comprised of three (3) representatives of the players, three (3) representativesof the <strong>Tour</strong>naments, one (1) representative of the ITF and the CEO.<strong>The</strong> Board of Directors is responsible for establishing the long-term strategicplan for the <strong>WTA</strong> <strong>Tour</strong>. Alternates for the players, <strong>WTA</strong> <strong>Tour</strong><strong>Tour</strong>naments and the ITF may also attend Board of Directors meetings asdetermined by the CEO.C. RULESINTRODUCTIONIn accordance with the Rules set forth in this <strong>WTA</strong> <strong>Tour</strong> <strong>Official</strong> <strong>Rulebook</strong>(“<strong>Rulebook</strong>”), the <strong>WTA</strong> selects and schedules <strong>Tour</strong>naments and is responsiblefor the resolution of any matter of dispute pertaining to the <strong>Tour</strong>, includingimposition of penalties on players, <strong>Tour</strong>naments, <strong>Tour</strong>nament officials,player relatives and representatives, coaches and other credentialed persons.<strong>The</strong> ITF Rules of <strong>Tennis</strong> shall apply to all <strong>WTA</strong> <strong>Tour</strong> <strong>Tour</strong>naments except asamended by the Rules. <strong>The</strong> ITF Rules of <strong>Tennis</strong> are set forth in Appendix G- page 417.<strong>The</strong> Rules set forth herein may be altered, amended or repealed by the <strong>WTA</strong>pursuant to its By-Laws. Capitalized terms which are used but not definedin these Rules have the meanings set forth in the Code of Conduct - page239 and the Glossary appearing in Appendix F – page 415. <strong>The</strong> headingsand titles to the Sections contained herein are inserted solely for conveniencepurposes and shall not affect the meaning or construction of the Rules.7
