If the carrier board provides no other display interface with DDC, the I2C2interface should be used. If the DDC is used, make sure that I 2 C device(s) on the LVDS display doesnot interfere with the DDC address 50h. Otherwise, a different I 2 C interface should be used. TheI 2 C interfaces on the <strong>Apalis</strong> module are 3.3V logic level. Electrically, HDMI and DVI are equal, but there can be some differences in theprotocol. HDMI is the successor of DVI and specifies the additional transport for audio data andcontent protection (HDCP). HDMI devices (monitor, television set etc.) can be driven with the DVIinterface as HDMI is backward compatible. Compatibility is not guaranteed when attempting todrive a DVI device with an HDMI interface. Not all DVI displays accept the HDMI protocol or areHDCP compatible.
