MUNICIPALITY OF MONROEVILLE2012 BUDGETDepartment Number:1530 Department Name: Information SystemsDepartment Description:This department provides for all aspects of information and technology management for theMunicipality of Monroeville. The Municipality utilizes the services of a full-time InformationTechnology Manager, a full-time Information Systems Technician and a data processing clerk.The Municipality performs all accounting, word processing and any other necessary work onthe Municipality's private network. Management of database information makes analysis ofoperations possible for department and program managers.Department Standards:• Responds to technology services requests; proVides support for equipment and softwareacquisition through research, recommendations, and order tracking; installs newcomputer hardware and software; researches information related to problems withhardware and software; and provides asset management for computer hardware andsoftware purchases.• Responsible for the administration of the computer network which includes maintainingsecurity and data integrity; the maintenance of servers for storage of data; ensuring thebackup of data in a timely manner; and providing access to the network by users. Inaddition, this department supports the Municipality's e-mail system and access to theIntranet and Internet by Municipal employees.• Provides support and assistance to the users of our telephone equipment as well asmaintenance and wiring services for communication purposes. In addition, support isprovided in assisting with the acquisition of new systems. This area is also responsiblefor the coordination of the Municipality's communication activities between theMunicipality, AT&T, MCINerizon, Nextel/Sprint and other service providers.• Responsible for the administration and maintenance of existing systems, i.e., financialreporting, payroll, police CAD/RMS, permit system, service requests, and numerousother applications for the various departments.- 74-
