MUNICIPALITY OF MONROEVILLE2012 BUDGETDepartment Number:2160 Department Name: School Crossing GuardsDepartment Description:The Municipality, in conjunction with the Gateway School District, provides school crossingguard services at heavily traveled intersections in the Municipality. Both the School Districtand the Municipality must concur on the provision or elimination of school crossing guardposts. The purpose of the school crossing guard program is to enhance safety at heavilytraveled intersections.Tilis account provides funding for the school crossing guard salaries, applicable fringe benefitsand uniform allowance. Fifty percent of the cost of the school guard is reimbursed by theGateway School District.Department Standards:• School crossing guards are to be at their post in the morning prior to the beginning ofthe school day and in the afternoon following the close of the schaal day wheneverschool is open.• New school crossing guards will be trained by the Monroeville Police Department forsafety issues. Prior to the beginning of each school year, crossing guards will receiveany necessary in-service training to ensure adherence to proper procedures or specialdiscussions and appropriate on-the-job conduct. Thereafter, in-service training may beheld at any time deemed necessary by the Chief of Police.- 94 .
