Meeting with citizen's groups, clubs and other interested segments of thecitizenry to exchange information on police programs as well as receive citizen ideas is afunction of the police community relations program. The Municipality also recognizes the needto assist the business community in deterring crime by providing them with established crimeprevention programs.Department Standards:• Programs designed to assist the people of Monroeville in combating crime. anddeterring drug abuse are available on request.• Special programs, such as crime watch. will be supported and coordinated by thecommunity safety division.• Home safety inspections will be performed for any resident upon request.• Business and school safety inspections and programs will be performed as requested• The School Resource Officer (SRO) is responsible for all law enforcement issues thatmay arise on school property and also provides safety/educational programs tostudents, teachers and parents. He also acts as the liaison between the SchoolAdministration and the Police Administration.- 92 -
