The ERC was dissolved effective January 1, 2006with most of the former members opting to have Allegheny County perform emergencydispatch services for their communities.<strong>Monroeville</strong> considered the costs versus the benefits of county service delivery versusmunicipal service delivery and reached the conclusion that municipal service delivery wasmost appropriate for <strong>Monroeville</strong>. <strong>Monroeville</strong> provides dispatch services for the Borough ofPitcairn police department and for the Wilmerding Volunteer Fire Department in addition topolice, fire and emergency medical services in <strong>Monroeville</strong>.Department Standards:• To provide for a positive, professional and correct response to emergency calls forservice from the public.Department Notes:• The department reflects one working supervisor, seven full-time telecommunicationsofficers and four part-time telecommunications officers,• <strong>Monroeville</strong> based emergency dispatch permits the continuation of simultaneouscomputer call entry to police and fire units in the field for more rapid response anddeployment. This capability would have gone away had county emergency dispatchbeen selected• The Police Record Management system,civilian office traffic are additionalEmergency Communications Center.requests for police records, and routineduties that are handled by the- 82 -
