MUNICIPALITY OF MONROEVILLE2012 BUDGETDepartment Number:2110 Department Name: Emergency CommunicationsDepartment Description:The Monroeville Emergency Communications program continues as a municipal responsibilityafter seven years of service delivery via an intergovernmental agreement wilh the EasternRegional Communications Center (ERC). The ERC was dissolved effective January 1, 2006with most of the former members opting to have Allegheny County perform emergencydispatch services for their communities.Monroeville considered the costs versus the benefits of county service delivery versusmunicipal service delivery and reached the conclusion that municipal service delivery wasmost appropriate for Monroeville. Monroeville provides dispatch services for the Borough ofPitcairn police department and for the Wilmerding Volunteer Fire Department in addition topolice, fire and emergency medical services in Monroeville.Department Standards:• To provide for a positive, professional and correct response to emergency calls forservice from the public.Department Notes:• The department reflects one working supervisor, seven full-time telecommunicationsofficers and four part-time telecommunications officers,• Monroeville based emergency dispatch permits the continuation of simultaneouscomputer call entry to police and fire units in the field for more rapid response anddeployment.
