The group will establish terms of reference and reporting mechanisms such as theOlder People‟s Board<strong>Tackling</strong> Seasonal Excess Deaths at a population levelThe HINST has identified a number of priority actions that are known to impact onreducing seasonal excess deaths and these actions are <strong>for</strong>ming the basis <strong>for</strong> aspecific delivery plan developed by the winter deaths impact group.Next stages and action planEstablish data on the numbers of excess winter deaths (coding by diagnosis)to enable targeted interventionsTo address any inequalities <strong>for</strong> example the most vulnerable and deprivedand develop an action planTo develop a Communication strategy (ensure awareness of public healthmessages )To address the recommended actions plans from the <strong>Health</strong> <strong>Inequalities</strong>National Support TeamEstablish links with health and housingTo develop better public awareness on the dangers, prevention andinterventions.This will include working with public health, the PCT and DACHScommunications, <strong>Dudley</strong> Community Voluntary Services, libraries and localwebsites including the <strong>Dudley</strong> Older People‟s websitewww.ageingwelldudley.org<strong>15</strong>3
