PercentagePatterns of emergency hospital admissions by mechanism, with intentDuring 2004-2008 the most common mechanisms <strong>for</strong> unintentional injuries amongemergency hospital admissions <strong>for</strong> males were falls and fracture and transport (51%and <strong>15</strong>% respectively). For females the majority of unintentional emergency hospitaladmissions in 2004-2008 were due to falls and fractures (76%), followed by transport(6%). In 2004-2008, <strong>for</strong> attempted suicides, poisoning was the most commonmechanism <strong>for</strong> males and females (89% and 93% respectively).Admissions from undetermined intent had a wider range of mechanisms associatedwith it, with poisoning accounting <strong>for</strong> the largest proportion (68% and 92% <strong>for</strong> malesand females respectively).
