The Humanities programs seek to immerse students in the pursuit of truth and wisdom—virtues acquired through an on-going engagement with every aspect of the question, “Whatdoes it mean to be human?” Our collaborative inquiry is shaped by a commitment tounderstand and to appreciate the human experience through all of its varied history, literature,art, philosophy, languages, and cultures in view of God’s truth about human beings as disclosedin Christian faith. We value rigorous reflection and creative imagination about those thingswhich are True, Good, and Beautiful.As a result of study in the Humanities, students will demonstrate: Improvement in skills of rhetorical, literary, historical, artistic, and philosophicalanalysis. Improvement in skills of both writing and speaking. Improvement in understanding of the content and methodology of various disciplineswithin the humanities. Maturation of an awareness of the interplay between Christian faith and academicinquiry in humanities. Successful application of skill and knowledge enhanced through study in humanities inappropriate vocations or continued study.The Natural Sciences programs seek to engage students in the process of inquiry associatedwith exploring the nature of the world through both rational and experimental investigation.Our collaborative inquiry is shaped by a concern for the harmony between well-confirmedscientific facts, principles, and theories and God’s truth as revealed in Scripture, as well as afirm commitment to moral integrity in the practices and applications of science (technology)and mathematics in every aspect of life.As a result of study in the area of Natural Sciences, students will demonstrate: Improvement in quantitative skills, in problem solving, and in scientific analysis. Improvement in the preparation and presentation of quantitative and scientific work. Improvement in understanding of quantitative and scientific methods. Improvement in understanding of the content of various fields of scientific andmathematical inquiry. Maturation of an awareness of the interplay between Christian faith and the practices,applications, and content of natural science. Successful application of both skill and knowledge enhanced through the study ofmathematics and natural sciences in appropriate vocations or continued study.128
