BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (BU)BU-1013 INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTER APPLICATIONS (3 SEMESTER HOURS)As an essential part of a liberal arts education, this introductory course, Computer andInformation Literacy, focuses on helping students to effectively know how to identify access,evaluate, apply, and share information using available technology including computer software,hardware, the Internet, e-mail, online discussions, and other resources.BU-1200 PERSONAL FINANCE (3 SEMESTER HOURS)Deals with the basics of preparing an individual to understand the fundamentals of businesstransactions of the individual and the family in a modern society. Topics covered arebudgeting, cost of credit, owning a home, insurance, savings and investments, and financialplanning techniques. Emphasis also placed on a Christian Perspective including topics such aswealth, financial bondage, and God’s plan for financial freedom.BU-2153 FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING (3 SEMESTER HOURS)Introduction to Financial Accounting Concepts. Includes a study of the accounting cycle,internal control, the treatment of various balance sheet accounts, cash flow and characteristicsof corporations. Stresses the adjustments at the close of the fiscal year and the form andpreparation of financial statements.BU-2183 PRINCIPLES OF MICROECONOMICS (3 SEMESTER HOURS)Elements of economic analysis applied to the operation of a market economy. Topics includesupply and demand analysis, demand theory, elasticity, economic nature of production andcost, price theory, behavior of firms in both competitive and monopolistic environments,income distribution theory and effects of government intervention in the market system, andinternational trade theory. Prerequisite: MA-2044.BU-2233 BUSINESS COMMUNICATIONS (3 SEMESTER HOURS)Analysis of the communications process as it relates to the business function in the workplace.Emerging forms of communication such as telecommunications, e-mail, software, andelectronic presentation systems as well as traditional forms of written business communicationare studied. In addition to developing strategies for oral presentations, students enhancelistening skills and critique oral and written communication. Prerequisite: EN-1202.BU-2263 MANAGERIAL ACCOUNTING (3 SEMESTER HOURS)Introduction to Managerial Accounting Concepts.
