Failure to resolve an “I”grade by this deadline will result in an automatic, administrative grade change to an “F.”In exceptional circumstances, the instructor may request an extension of the deadline from theRegistrar. In special cases and in consultation with the Registrar and Instructor of record,The Vice President for <strong>Academic</strong> Affairs (VPAA) may assign an “I” grade and/or extend thedeadline for completion administratively.S The grade of “S” (in courses using an “S/U” grading system) indicates satisfactory work. Thestudent receives course credit or credit awarded for prior experiential learning. The “S” gradeis not included in computing a student’s grade point average.U The grade of “U” (in courses using an “S/U” grading system) indicates unsatisfactory work.The student does not receive course credit or credit awarded for prior experiential learning.The “U” grade is not included in computing a student’s grade point average.W The grade of “W” indicates that a student has withdrawn from a course (or from the<strong>University</strong>) on or before the published final date for withdrawal. Although a grade of “W” is notcomputed in the cumulative GPA, it is included on the student’s transcript.AU The grade of “AU” indicates that a student has audited a course. Since no course credit isawarded for audit courses, the “AU” grade has no effect on a student’s grade point average.QUALITY POINTSA earns 4.00 quality points for each semester hour.B earns 3.00 quality points for each semester hour.C earns 2.00 quality points for each semester hour.D earns 1.00 quality point for each semester hour.F earns 0.00 quality points for each semester hour.W earns 0.00 quality points for each semester hour.AU earns 0.00 quality points for each semester hour.CALCULATING THE CUMULATIVE UNIVERSITY GRADE POINT AVERAGEThe Grade Point Average (GPA) is calculated by dividing the total Grade Points earned(excluding repeat courses) at the <strong>University</strong> by the total Hours Attempted (excluding repeatcourses) at the <strong>University</strong>. Grade Points are determined by multiplying the quality pointsearned by the hours attempted per course. Please refer to the Student Handbook for anillustration of this calculation model.98
