Science & Mathematics Access to Retain Talent (SMART) Grant Must be a US Citizen; Non-citizens may be eligibleMust be Pell eligibleMust be enrolled at least half -time in a four year degree granting institutionMust be majoring in physical, life or computer science, engineering, mathematics,technology, or a critical foreign languageMust maintain a cumulative 3.0 on a 4.0 scaleAwards are $4000 per year for 3 rd and 4 th year studentsTEACH Grant (Teacher Education Assistance for <strong>University</strong> and Higher Education) Up to $4000 per year for undergraduate students – up to $16000Students must teach in a critical shortage area for a certain amount of timeIf the recipient does not meet all obligations, the grant turns into a Federal DirectUnsubsidized Federal Stafford Loan and accrues retroactive interest from date awardreceivedStudent must maintain a 3.25 GPAFINANCIAL AID SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS POLICYThe U.S. Department of Education requires schools to develop and implement policies by whichacademic progress is evaluated and monitored for all students, even those who did not receivefinancial aid in prior terms at <strong>Victory</strong> <strong>University</strong>. Students must meet Financial Aid Satisfactory<strong>Academic</strong> Progress (SAP) requirements to receive federal Title IV aid that includes Federal PellGrants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (SEOG), Federal Work Study,<strong>Academic</strong> Competitiveness Grants (ACG), Federal SMART Grants, Federal TEACH, and FederalDirect Loans (Subsidized, Unsubsidized and PLUS). <strong>Victory</strong> <strong>University</strong> also applies the SAPrequirements to monitor eligibility for all institutional aid.This policy describes the Financial Aid Satisfactory <strong>Academic</strong> Progress requirements and is inaddition to and operates separately from the <strong>Academic</strong> Progress requirements found in thecatalog.Evaluation of Satisfactory <strong>Academic</strong> Progress:The academic record of all students is reviewed after the end of each term. After evaluation,letters will be sent to all students who failed to meet SAP. All financial aid recipients must meetthe following minimum standards:Qualitative Standard: Students must meet the minimum cumulative GPA for <strong>Academic</strong>Progress as outlined in the ACADEMIC INFORMATION section of this catalog.82
