PRIOR LEARNING ASSESSMENT (PLA)Prior learning assessment (PLA) is the process of earning college credit for learning that wasacquired from non-classroom experiences like work, professional training, military careers,volunteering, and personal life. VU-1001 CAEL Portfolio will help students identify areas oflearning they may want to have evaluated for college-level equivalency. The course will alsoguide students through the preparation and compilation of all components for the evaluationof a portfolio or prior learning through LearningCounts.org. Students will learn critical reflectionskill to rethink the value of their learning and its implications for future learning. Adult learningtheory, models, and concepts will be discussed and applied to case studies. VU-1001 CAELPortfolio is facilitated by an instructor who provides guidance for the student in preparing his orher portfolio-based request for credit. Successful completion of VU-1001 CAEL Portfolio willresult in three lower–level credits.ACADEMIC PROGRESSVeteran students may not receive educational benefits while remaining on academic probationfor an indefinite period of time.
