NOTE: PS-2223 Introduction to Psychological Research must be taken before psychologymajors will be admitted to 3000 or 4000 level courses.PS-3013 ADOLESCENT PSYCHOLOGY (3 SEMESTER HOURS)An examination of the physical, intellectual, social, emotional, personality, and spiritualdevelopment of adolescents. Diagnosis and treatment of adolescent psychopathology are alsoemphasized. Prerequisite: PS-1100 and PS-2223.PS-3033 PSYCHOLOGICAL STATISTICS (3 SEMESTER HOURS)An introduction to theory and techniques of descriptive and inferential statistics inexperimental psychology. Students will be introduced to statistical theory, hypothesis testing,and basic research design as well as to a variety of statistical tests including z-tests, t-tests,ANOVA, Chi Square, correlation, regression, and others. Applications of statistics to quantitativepsychological research will be emphasized. Prerequisite: PS-1100, PS-2223 and MA-2044.(NOTE: PS-3033 Psychological Statistics is, in part, a continuation of information presented inPS-2223, must be taken after the student completes PS-2223, and must be taken within thesame academic calendar year as PS-2223. EXAMPLE: Fall 16 wk semester student takes PS-2223; Spring 16 wk semester, student takes PS-3033).PS-3113 PSYCHOLOGY OF PERSONALITY (3 SEMESTER HOURS)An introduction to the development, structure and functioning of the personality. Areas ofstudy include psychoanalytic, behavioral, humanistic, and trait theories as well as Christianapproaches to personality. Prerequisite: PS-1100, PS-2223, and PS-3033. (NOTE: PS-3033 can betaken as a co-requisite.)PS-3213 PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT (3 SEMESTER HOURS)An introduction to group and individual psychological assessment theory including tests ofpersonality, mental ability, academic ability and individual interests. Test construction theory,statistical considerations, test administration procedures and interpretation will be introduced.Prerequisite: PS-1100 and PS-2223. (NOTE: PS-3033 can be taken as a co-requisite.)PS/BT-3800 PASTORAL COUNSELING (3 SEMESTER HOURS)An overview of basic counseling skills and procedures specifically designed to addresscounseling issues that relate to Pastoral Counseling (i.e., pre-marital, marital and familycounseling; trauma/crisis intervention; abnormal psychology issues such as depression, anger,addictions, grief counseling; sexuality and sexual identity; the integration of counseling theoryand spirituality; and life/career/financial goals). Because this broad overview spans a lifetime ofgrowth and change, the prerequisite PS-2044 Lifespan Development will provide applicabletheoretical underpinnings. (Prerequisite: PS-1100 and PS-2044; PS-2223 prerequisite forPsychology Majors).234
