16. The early warning can be generated 72 hrs prior to actual event based on
inundation and risk maps.
MAPPING REQUIREMENT FOR FLOOD HAZARD ZONATION
1. Aerial mapping of catchment area of all critical river basins needs to be done
at the scale 1:2,000 and contour intervals of 0.5 meters or better to create
catchments area module.
2. Aerial mapping of all embankments of rivers to be done at the scale 1:2,000
and contour intervals of 0.5 meters or better to create three dimensional
riverside model.
3. The aerial survey is supplemented with field survey of river bed to obtain river
hydraulic model.
4. Aerial mapping of 10 kms strips on both sides of riverbed to be done at the
scale of 1:2,000 and contour intervals of 0.5 meters or better to create flood
inundation maps.
5. The high resolution maps at the scale 1:10,000 with contour interval 1.0 meter
or better can be done for entire flood hazard prone area.
6. Complete asset map in flood hazard zone to be created as per the data model
given in the Annexure.
