NEW YEAR’S GREETINGS
FROM CORNERSTONE CHRISTIAN
By Rev. George Faragi
Well, another year has quickly passed and 2007 is upon us. I began to
reflect upon accomplished and unfinished projects during the past year of
2006.To be honest, I felt I could have done more than I had and I cringed
at some of the things I failed at.
I was reminded of Corrieten Boom who told a story how she had
visited a weaver’s school, where students were making beautiful patterns.
She asked, “When you make a mistake, must you cut it out and start from
the beginning?”
A student answered, “No. Our teacher is such a great artist that when
we make a mistake, he uses it to improve the beauty of the pattern.”
That is exactly what our Lord does with our mistakes. He is the greatest
artist in the universe but before He can use our mistakes to make the
pattern of our lives more beautiful, we have to surrender. We have to
surrender our hearts, our attitudes, our very lives so His will may be
accomplished and not ours.
We should not allow the materialism and glut of activity this New Year
to steal precious time for renewing our most valuable relationships with
family, those who are less fortunate and friends. We need to carve out
some time to strengthen these relationships with the gift of our love and
affirmation.
As believers we should commit to spending quality time with Christ
through our daily devotions. Reflection is important. We need to still our
hearts before the Lord and reflect on His goodness and faithfulness
throughout the past year and know that He will remain the same, good
and faithful this New Year of 2007.
I pray the blessing of God upon you and your families this New Year.
May you prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.
