The North Broward County Chapter of The Links, Inc. hosted a second high tea<br />
event this year focusing on ano<strong>the</strong>r health issue in our community, diabetes.<br />
On Sunday, December 3rd members of <strong>the</strong> North Broward County Chapter of<br />
The Links, Inc. (NBC Links) ga<strong>the</strong>red toge<strong>the</strong>r at <strong>the</strong> Boca Country Club in Boca<br />
Raton, Fl. for an elegant afternoon of various green teas and shared information<br />
about diabetes. Proceeds from this event went to <strong>the</strong> Broward County Chapter of<br />
The American Diabetes Association.<br />
Links Margaret Hayes and Margaret Roseburr, Co-Chairs of <strong>the</strong> National Trends<br />
and Services/Green High Tea, along with o<strong>the</strong>r committee members, put toge<strong>the</strong>r a<br />
very informative affair including panelists who shared personal experiences,<br />
preventative and maintenance measures for persons living with diabetes. Bochures,<br />
literature and tapes were distributed to all guests. Each guest received a green colored gift bag which contained sugar<br />
free candy, a diabetes lapel pin and bracelet. Panelists were: Dr. Maxine Hamilton- Internal Medicine; Ms. Phyllis<br />
Bruno- Nurse Educator at <strong>the</strong> Cleveland Clinic; Mr. Leroy Bland- Connecting Link, NBC Links; Ms. Alexis<br />
Weisman- Teen Consultant for Diabetic Camp at Coral Springs Medical Center and Link Bernice Bailey- member<br />
of NBC Links.<br />

continue in <strong>the</strong> community”, said Link Charlyne<br />
Monroe, First Vice-President, NBC Links. The<br />
feedback she received from guests is that not only<br />
was this event very positive, some felt as though<br />
<strong>the</strong>ir lives were actually saved. She said, “The<br />
panelists were just absolutely marvelous”.<br />
NBC Links continue to do great things in our<br />
community and are making plans for <strong>the</strong>ir 12th<br />
annual unity luncheon to be held on Saturday,<br />
March 17, 2007 at <strong>the</strong> Marriott Hotel in Coral<br />
Springs.<br />
