The North Broward County Chapter of The Links, Inc. hosted a second high tea
event this year focusing on another health issue in our community, diabetes.
On Sunday, December 3rd members of the North Broward County Chapter of
The Links, Inc. (NBC Links) gathered together at the Boca Country Club in Boca
Raton, Fl. for an elegant afternoon of various green teas and shared information
about diabetes. Proceeds from this event went to the Broward County Chapter of
The American Diabetes Association.
Links Margaret Hayes and Margaret Roseburr, Co-Chairs of the National Trends
and Services/Green High Tea, along with other committee members, put together a
very informative affair including panelists who shared personal experiences,
preventative and maintenance measures for persons living with diabetes. Bochures,
literature and tapes were distributed to all guests. Each guest received a green colored gift bag which contained sugar
free candy, a diabetes lapel pin and bracelet. Panelists were: Dr. Maxine Hamilton- Internal Medicine; Ms. Phyllis
Bruno- Nurse Educator at the Cleveland Clinic; Mr. Leroy Bland- Connecting Link, NBC Links; Ms. Alexis
Weisman- Teen Consultant for Diabetic Camp at Coral Springs Medical Center and Link Bernice Bailey- member
of NBC Links.

Monroe, First Vice-President, NBC Links. The
feedback she received from guests is that not only
was this event very positive, some felt as though
their lives were actually saved. She said, “The
panelists were just absolutely marvelous”.
NBC Links continue to do great things in our
community and are making plans for their 12th
annual unity luncheon to be held on Saturday,
March 17, 2007 at the Marriott Hotel in Coral
Springs.
