FUNDRAISER
The Park Trails Elementary School Parents Teachers Association will
hold their third annual fundraising gala, A Night at the Oasis on February 9
from 7:30pm - 11:30pm at The Parkland Golf and Country Club. Hertz
Jewelers of Coral Springs is the title sponsor
Hertz Jewelers owner, Scott Hertz, is a civic minded resident who
proudly supports the fundraising efforts within the Parkland/Coral
Springs community.
Oasis Night committee chair Maxine Scherr says, “We are so pleased
that Hertz Jewelers has made such a generous donation to our school.
Scott has always been a great supporter of Park Trails. This contribution
will help to outfit our newest classrooms with computers.”
“Additionally, says Scherr, as title sponsor, Hertz will be the exclusive
jeweler for our silent auction.”

Teen Advisory Group – On Thursday, January 18 from 7:00 - 8:00
p.m., the Teen Advisory Group (TAG) Meeting for teens aged 12-18
will be held at Parkland City Hall (6600 University Drive)
Agenda: Parkland Annual Concert; Search for Local Teen Bands to
perform on stage at concert, Future Teen programs, Volunteer
Opportunities to earn Service Hours.
THE FOLLOWING EVENTS ARE FOR PARKLAND
RESIDENTS, AGE 55 AND OLDER.
Senior Program Trip – Jonathan Dickinson State Park/ Blowing
Rocks Preserve/ Marine Life Center of Juno Beach on Saturday,
January 20, from 8:00 a.m - 5:30 p.m.
Drop off and Pick up location will be at the Parkland Library
(6620 University Drive). Admission to facilities, Boat Tour,
Equipment, Guide, Snack, and Transportation in Air Conditioned
Motor Coach Bus are free of charge
Senior Program Class – Science Eye- Forest Reach Workshop on
Tuesday, January 9, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Parkland
Library
The class includes: The life and importance of the forest right in our
own classroom through the program Forest Reach. We will become
“ecologists” and examine “critters” in the forest litter, try to solve tree
ring mysteries, separate moss, fungi & lichens, sleuth for the “killers”
of the forests, meet earthworms face to face and concoct herbal teas
from medicine plants.
