FUNDRAISER<br />
The Park Trails Elementary School Parents Teachers Association will<br />
hold <strong>the</strong>ir third annual fundraising gala, A Night at <strong>the</strong> Oasis on February 9<br />
from 7:30pm - 11:30pm at The Parkland Golf and Country Club. Hertz<br />
Jewelers of Coral Springs is <strong>the</strong> title sponsor<br />
Hertz Jewelers owner, Scott Hertz, is a civic minded resident who<br />
proudly supports <strong>the</strong> fundraising efforts within <strong>the</strong> Parkland/Coral<br />
Springs community.<br />
Oasis Night committee chair Maxine Scherr says, “We are so pleased<br />
that Hertz Jewelers has made such a generous donation to our school.<br />
Scott has always been a great supporter of Park Trails. This contribution<br />
will help to outfit our newest classrooms with computers.”<br />

Teen Advisory Group – On Thursday, January 18 from 7:00 - 8:00<br />
p.m., <strong>the</strong> Teen Advisory Group (TAG) Meeting for teens aged 12-18<br />
will be held at Parkland City Hall (6600 University Drive)<br />
Agenda: Parkland Annual Concert; Search for Local Teen Bands to<br />
perform on stage at concert, Future Teen programs, Volunteer<br />
Opportunities to earn Service Hours.<br />

Senior Program Trip – Jonathan Dickinson State Park/ Blowing<br />
Rocks Preserve/ Marine Life Center of Juno Beach on Saturday,<br />
January 20, from 8:00 a.m - 5:30 p.m.<br />
Drop off and Pick up location will be at <strong>the</strong> Parkland Library<br />
(6620 University Drive). Admission to facilities, Boat Tour,<br />
Equipment, Guide, Snack, and Transportation in Air Conditioned<br />
Motor Coach Bus are free of charge<br />
Senior Program Class – Science Eye- Forest Reach Workshop on<br />
Tuesday, January 9, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at <strong>the</strong> Parkland<br />
Library<br />
The class includes: The life and importance of <strong>the</strong> forest right in our<br />
own classroom through <strong>the</strong> program Forest Reach. We will become<br />
“ecologists” and examine “critters” in <strong>the</strong> forest litter, try to solve tree<br />
ring mysteries, separate moss, fungi & lichens, sleuth for <strong>the</strong> “killers”<br />
of <strong>the</strong> forests, meet earthworms face to face and concoct herbal teas<br />
from medicine plants.<br />
