Allah ordered the Prophet (peace be uponhim) to change Qiblah from al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem to theKabah in Makkah.<strong>The</strong> Battle of Badr: (17 Ramadan, 2 A.H.): 1300 strong army ofMakkans came all the way to Madinah to attack the 313-317<strong>Muslims</strong> soldiers. An outnumbered Muslim army defeated them atBadr near Madinah. <strong>The</strong> great tyrant Abu Jahl was killed. In thisbattle 14 <strong>Muslims</strong> soldiers were killed & 70 Polytheists were killed.Fasting made obligatory: <strong>The</strong> fasting of Ramadan was establishedas an obligatory observance in the year 2 A.H., along with the dutyimposed upon <strong>Muslims</strong> of paying Zakat.<strong>The</strong> Battle of Uhud: (7 Shawwal, 3 A.H.): <strong>The</strong> <strong>Muslims</strong> weredefeated at Uhud outside Madinah. <strong>The</strong> Prophet [bpuh] himself was<strong>Young</strong> <strong>Muslims</strong>, What they should know about Islam Page - 213
