in order to bring both of them clearly before his mind. <strong>The</strong> samemethod should be followed when reading about the things whichlead man to success and salvation, and those which lead to hisfailure and ruin. <strong>The</strong> teachings and instructions in the Qur’an aboutbelief, morality, obligations, civilization, culture, economics, politics,law, social systems, peace, war, and other human issues should bestudied and illustrated. <strong>The</strong>se notes should be organized andcombined to form a complete sketch of the system of life which theQur’an and Islam represent.If one desires to know the Qur’an's solution to a certain humanproblem, he should first study the relevant literature, both ancientand modern, and note down the basic issues. He should also lookfor any modern research done in the given field. <strong>The</strong>n, with theknowledge on the issue obtained from above method, he shouldread the Qur’an several times, and each time from a differentperspective. Those who desire to make a thorough study of theQur’an should read it at least twice with the sole aim ofunderstanding the system of life it presents. <strong>The</strong> goal should be toobjectively finding the answers to those issues. Again, we can sayfrom personal experience that when the Qur’an is studied with thegoal of researching any problem, an answer will be found to it evenin those verses which were skipped over without imagining whattreasures lay hidden therein.But in spite of all these attempts, the inspiring spirit of the Qur’ancan never be fully grasped unless its message is put into practice.<strong>The</strong> Qur’an is neither a book of abstract ideas nor ungroundedtheories, which can be studied lying on an easy chair. It is not abook of religious mysteries and riddles which must be unraveled inmonasteries and universities. It is a Book sent to inspire people tostart a movement to achieve its mission. Only by going to the'battlefield' of life, one can understand its real message. This is whya quiet and amiable person like Muhammad (God's peace be withhim) had to come out of his seclusion, start the Islamic Movementand fight against the rebellious world.
