Jobs.7.3: Long-term impact on the quality of jobsRelevance:This indicator estimates the long-term impact of the RI on the qualityof jobs in the region.Compilation:• Collect and report information about the RI’s personnel by occupationcategory expected in the future and / or about the occupationstructure of suitable reference facilities over time. Use internationalclassification schemes (ISCO-08, Frascati Manual).• Collect and report information about the RI’s personnel by formaleducation expected in the future and /or about the education levelof the staff of suitable reference facilities over time. Use the ISCED97 classification scheme.• Additional you may conduct a questionnaire-based survey or a foresightexercise to assess the RI’s long-term impact on the quality ofjobs expected by relevant external stakeholder groups.Definitions and explanations:The Frascati Manual distinguishes for R&D personnel between the occupationcategories researchers, technicians and equivalent staff, andother supporting staff, defining them in the following way:Researchers are professionals engaged in the conception or creation ofnew knowledge, products, processes, methods and systems and alsoin the management of the projects concerned.Technicians and equivalent staff are persons whose main tasks requiretechnical knowledge and experience in one or more fields of engineering,physical and life sciences or social sciences and humanities. Theyparticipate in R&D by performing scientific and technical tasks involvingthe application of concepts and operational methods, normallyunder the supervision of researchers. Equivalent staff performs thecorresponding R&D tasks under the supervision of researchers in thesocial sciences and humanities.Other supporting staff includes skilled and unskilled craftsman,sec¬retarial and clerical staff participating in R&D projects or directlyasso¬ciated with such projects.
