RI.2.2: Technical performance of the facilityRelevance:The indicator describes the technical performance, which the new RIachieves or is planned to achieve. Together with the other indicators ofthis category it clarifies, how the new facility can make progress beyondthe current state-of-the-art and lead to new technical or technologicaldevelopments and new scientific opportunities from which thediverse stakeholders might benefit.Compilation:• Identify and report the (desired) technical performance of the(new) facility.• Identify and report, how this technical performance compares tothose of other existing RIs of the same or a comparable type.Data sources and collection methods:• Analysis of documents such as the project proposal, annual reports,technical publications etc.• Interviews with scientific and technical experts, such as thoseinvolved in the preparation of the project proposal or scientists /engineers of an already operating facility (e.g. chief project engineer,chief facility engineer, scientific manager)Data analysis methods:• Descriptive content analysisReferences:NoneSince numeric values have limited use to many readers, try to illustrate,with case studies or text.Definitions and explanations:None40
RI.2.3: Technical and technological challenges of the projectRelevance:The indicator describes the technical and technological challenges,which stem from the high technical performance requirements for thenew facility (it is expected that these will cross the current technologicalfrontiers).
