FILM ANALYSIS: TECHNIQUE AND THEMES 738

Grades 10-12 Grouping: Heterogeneous
This course is an introduction to the basic technical and thematic aspects of
cinema, where students will have the opportunity to view, analyze and discuss
films. Students will consider the major themes of significant films both as they
represent specific time periods and as they impact our culture. Students also
examine the technical aspects of film, including cinematography, sound, editing
and acting. In addition, students direct, shoot and edit their own short film.
Semester Course, 5 times per week, 2.5 credits
RADIO AND TELEVISION PRODUCTION 904
Grades: 9-12 Grouping: Heterogeneous
This experience will introduce students to the procedures and techniques
necessary to utilize the equipment found in the High School radio and television
studios. Students will acquire problem-solving skills through hands-on training
in actual and simulated production environments. In the television studio,
students will be directly involved in preparing the television studio for High
School shoots Including camera commands, switching, audio, graphics, and
chroma key backgrounds, teleprompter, and preparing for a shoot using a
Virtual Studio. In the Air studio, students will be trained to host a weekly radio
show. Students will also be trained on the many uses of the radio production
studio including the use of multi-track sound editing software “Adobe
Audition” and the daily production of public service and community
announcements. Students will also be responsible for assisting teachers with
film projects in classrooms.
