FRENCH III 522 (AE) / IV 533 (CP)
Grades: 10-12 Grouping: Homogeneous
Prerequisite: C- or higher in French II AE or H for IIIAE/
C- or higher in French III for IV CP
French III AE/IV CP begins with a brief period of review to reacquaint students
with material studied the previous year. Students will have opportunities to use
language in practical situations such as telephone calls, shopping, and travel
abroad. They will read and speak about daily life situations such as describing
oneself and others, expressing opinions, asking for help, accepting or refusing
invitations, and thanking people. Linguistic structures will be used in speaking
and writing activities. Comprehension skills will be developed through the
reading of poems and short stories. Students will develop their listening
comprehension skills through a coordinated audio program. Individual and
group projects will focus on the history, art, music, and
contemporary culture of the Francophone world. Audio, video, computer
software programs, and a feature film are components of the course.

Grades: 10-12 Grouping: Homogeneous
Prerequisite: C or higher in French II H
French III H is taught at an accelerated pace and challenging level. Students will
have opportunities to use language in practical situations, such as traveling
abroad, shopping, and making hotel reservations. Linguistic structures will be
used in speaking, written translations, and writing activities. Comprehension
skills will be developed through the reading of poems and short stories. Students
will develop their listening comprehension skills through a coordinated audio
program. Internet-based research, analysis of literature and film, and individual
and group projects will enable students to deepen their understanding of the
history, art, music, and contemporary culture of the Francophone world.
