DIGITAL IMAGERY 1 859 Grades: 9-12 Grouping: Heterogeneous Prerequisite: None Students of Digital Imagery 1 will learn to use professional-level software to create a variety of graphic design projects. Students will learn to use Adobe Photoshop for image editing and Adobe InDesign for layout. Introduction to the work of contemporary graphic designers and typography, as well as the creative process of brainstorming, designing & revising will be covered in this semester course. Lessons offer opportunities to create unique, practical, and expressive graphic designs using type and images generated by computer software. Semester course – 5 times per week, 2.5 credits DIGITAL IMAGERY II 860 Grades: 9-12 Grouping: Heterogeneous Prerequisite: Digital Imagery 1 with a B- or higher Students of Digital Imagery II will continue to learn new Photoshop and InDesign techniques while creating a variety of original artworks. This course has a special focus on the use of digital photography and uses Photoshop to create and edit original photographs. Students will examine how graphic design and digital photography impact the design field. Semester course, 5 times per week, 2.5 credits WEB PAGE DESIGN I 849 Grades: 9-12 Grouping: Heterogeneous Prerequisite: None Web Page Design provides opportunities for students to create and design a multiple page website. The course focuses on the use of HTML, CSS, Photoshop and Dreamweaver. Students create original layouts and graphics, explore the basics of typography, and are introduced to writing HTML. Students learn best practices for website management. Introduction to the work of contemporary designers, as well as the creative process of brainstorming, layout, 89

Semester course, 5 times per week, 2.5 credits ADVANCED WEB PAGE DESIGN 858 Grades: 9-12 Grouping: Heterogeneous Prerequisite: Web Page Design I with a B- or higher Students of Advanced Web Page Design will work more independently and will be expected to create two projects. The first project will take the form of a small webpage or presentation which will be used to demonstrate design and technical concepts to beginning web design students. The second project will involve the construction of a larger, independent project for a client outside of the school. Semester course, 5 times per week, 2.5 credits ANIMATION I 829 Grades: 9-12 Grouping: Heterogeneous Prerequisite: None This course guides students through the basics of animation on and off the computer. They will study the history of animation and foundations essential to the animation field. Students will view examples of classic, experimental, and contemporary animation. Students will explore the use of digital cameras, drawing tablets, and/or scanners. Students will create and edit original storyboards, stop motion characters and short animations using Flash and StopMotion. Students will participate in self, peer, and group critiques. Semester course, 5 times per week, 2.5 credits ANIMATION II 833 Grades: 9-12 Grouping: Hetergeneous Pre-Requisite: Animation I with a grade of B- or higher In this class students will engage in a variety of independent and collaborative challenges that build on the technical and storytelling skills necessary to produce compelling animations. We will aim toward the creation of longer animations that tell our stories in depth. Students will have the choice between working in a variety of mediums, such as stop motion, 2D cell, claymation, and Flash. Emphasis will be placed on matching the needs of one’s animation concept to the appropriate medium. The study of the work of contemporary animators will be a major aspect of the course, as well as an exploration of career options in the field. Semester course, 5 times per week, 2.5 credits 90
