SPANISH I 552 (AE)
Grades 9-12 Grouping: Homogeneous
Prerequisite: None
Spanish I introduces the students to the Spanish language and culture through
an integrated approach to language learning. Students are introduced to useful
and practical expressions, vocabulary, and grammatical structures with an
emphasis on asking and answering questions in Spanish. Cultural
information, comparison, and regional differences help students to gain
knowledge and understanding of the culture of Spanish-speaking countries.
Students begin reading authentic documents and literature. Language learning
tips, realia, technology, and audio visual resources help the students to learn
Spanish. This course is taught at an accelerated pace.

SPANISH II 563 (CP)
Grades: 9-12 Grouping: Homogeneous
Prerequisite: C- or higher in Spanish I
After a period of review, students continue their study of the Spanish language
and Hispanic culture. Students continue to acquire and use vocabulary and
grammar through listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities. In this
course students will learn to talk about past events. Similar strategies and
methods as used in Spanish I CP will again be utilized.

SPANISH II 562 (AE)
Grades 9-12 Grouping: Homogeneous
Prerequisite: B- or higher in Spanish I (AE)
Spanish II AE continues the study of the Spanish language and culture, at a
moderate pace, through an integrated approach to language learning.
Presentation and practice of functional expressions, vocabulary, and grammar
structures are interwoven with cultural information, language learning tips, and
realia. The technology, audiovisual materials, and readings are integrated
throughout each chapter.
