8 Radio Basics Class Notes 11 In this section we will discuss some basic concepts concerning signal modulation, generation, receiving, and demodulation. Some of these concepts are quite general and see applications in many areas. However, the most familiar perhaps is that of broadcast radio generation and receiving, hence the title of the section. We will begin with a simplified discussion of amplitude modulation (AM).
