John was born on February 4, 1822 in Georgia. On November29, 1848, John Wesley Brooks married Elizabeth Mizell in Talbot County,Georgia. Elizabeth was born on September 6, 1830 in North Carolina. In 1850,Wesley and Elizabeth Brooks were living in Bienville Parish, Louisiana. Johnand Elizabeth Brooks were the parents of four children:............Frances C. Brooks, b. 1850............John Wesley Brooks, Jr. (2.16.2), b. February, 1852, Louisiana............Asbury Quitman Brooks (2.16.3), b. September, 1854, Louisiana............Jason Nathan Jackson Brooks (2.16.4), b. May, 1858, LouisianaFrom 1860 to 1900, John and Elizabeth Brooks were living in Jackson Parish,Louisiana. John Wesley Brooks, Sr. died on May 25, 1901 and was buried inthe Brooks Chapel Cemetery located two miles west of Quitman, Louisiana.
