Conrad was born on August 11, 1901 on his parent’sfarm in Washita County, Oklahoma. Conrad died on January 28, 1922 of an abscessof the liver. Joella was born on September21, 1914 and is the daughter of Joe Shelton and Lucy Murel (Stuffelbean)Shelton. Bryan and Joella Brooks were the parents of two children:............Peggy Lou Brooks (5.2.1), b. October 4, 1932, Los Angeles, California............Janet Sue Brooks (5.2.2), b. July 14, 1941, Elk City, OklahomaBefore World War II, Bryan worked in California for Edison Construction Company.He worked on the construction of a highway through the mountains inCalifornia. Also before the war, Bryan farmed with his father in WashitaCounty, Oklahoma. During the war, Bryan and his wife worked in a defenseplant in California. After the war, he returned to Oklahoma and again workedon his father’s farm. Bryan Brooks died on November 11, 1951 and was buriedin the Canute Cemetery. On July 3, 1956, Joella married a second time to FrancisClay “Buster” Vaught and they live in Elk City, Oklahoma.
