Alsoserves as an integral facility in thedissemin<strong>at</strong>ion of inform<strong>at</strong>ion to the publicabout Space Shuttle missions.5.3.6 Type 6: Communic<strong>at</strong>ion FacilitiesFour historic properties are classified as communic<strong>at</strong>ion facilities:• Huntsville Oper<strong>at</strong>ions Support Center/<strong>NASA</strong> D<strong>at</strong>a Center (HOSC/NDC) <strong>at</strong>MSFC• Communic<strong>at</strong>ion and Tracking Development Labor<strong>at</strong>ory <strong>at</strong> JSC• Mission Control Center <strong>at</strong> JSC• Launch Control Center <strong>at</strong> <strong>KSC</strong>Of these four facilities, two are loc<strong>at</strong>ed <strong>at</strong> JSC, one <strong>at</strong> MSFC, and one <strong>at</strong> <strong>KSC</strong>. TheHOSC/NDC in Building 4663 <strong>at</strong> the MSFC is the only property classified solely as aCommunic<strong>at</strong>ion Facility (Type 6). The LCC <strong>at</strong> <strong>KSC</strong> is also a Launch Oper<strong>at</strong>ions Facility(Type 3), as described in Section 5.3.3; the MCC <strong>at</strong> JSC, with multiple affili<strong>at</strong>ions (Types3, 4, 6, and 10), is described in Section 5.3.4; and the Communic<strong>at</strong>ions and TrackingDevelopment Labor<strong>at</strong>ory <strong>at</strong> JSC is also classified as an Engineering and Administr<strong>at</strong>ionFacility (Type 7). The l<strong>at</strong>ter is described below, along with the HOSC/NDC. All fourproperties are eligible under NRHP Criterion A for their exceptionally significantassoci<strong>at</strong>ions with the SSP; some are also eligible under Criterion C for their distinguisheddesign and construction.July 2008Archaeological Consultants, Inc.
