Also plays a key role inmaintaining the habitability of the orbiterenvironment.• Eligible under Criterion C in the area ofEngineering for its specialized equipmentsuch as vacuum chambers, whichsimul<strong>at</strong>e the extreme environment ofspaceAvionics Systems Labor<strong>at</strong>ory(Building 16) <strong>at</strong> JSC“Big Rig” orbiter forward bay in Building 16,looking north.(Source: Archaeological Consultants, Inc., 2006)• Built between 1962 and 1964; additionsmade in 1965 and between 1975 and1993.• In 1974, the SAIL was developed inWing N to provide integr<strong>at</strong>ion andverific<strong>at</strong>ion of Space Shuttle hardwareand software for flight.
