Space Shuttle <strong>Program</strong> Historic Properties 5-42<strong>NASA</strong>-wide Roll-up Report5.3.10 Type 10: Resources Associ<strong>at</strong>ed with the Training of AstronautsEight historic properties are classified as Type 10 resources:• Jake Garn Mission Simul<strong>at</strong>or and Training Facility <strong>at</strong> JSC• Systems Integr<strong>at</strong>ion Facility <strong>at</strong> JSC• Sonny Carter Training Facility/NBL <strong>at</strong> JSC• Multi-Purpose High Bay Facility and NBS <strong>at</strong> MSFC• Flight and Guidance Simul<strong>at</strong>ion Labor<strong>at</strong>ory <strong>at</strong> ARC• Crew Systems Labor<strong>at</strong>ory <strong>at</strong> JSC• Mission Control Center <strong>at</strong> JSC• SLF Runways <strong>at</strong> WSSHFive properties are loc<strong>at</strong>ed <strong>at</strong> JSC, and one each is loc<strong>at</strong>ed <strong>at</strong> ARC, MSFC, and WSTF.All are eligible under NRHP Criterion A as astronaut training sites in support of the SSP,and under Criterion C for their design and engineering. Four of the historic properties areclassified solely as Type 10 resources: the Flight and Guidance Simul<strong>at</strong>ion Labor<strong>at</strong>ory(Building N-243) <strong>at</strong> ARC; the Jake Garn Mission Simul<strong>at</strong>or and Training Facility(Building 5) <strong>at</strong> JSC; the Systems Integr<strong>at</strong>ion Facility (Building 9) <strong>at</strong> JSC; and the SonnyCarter Training Facility/NBL (Building 920-N) <strong>at</strong> JSC. The other four assets havemultiple property type affili<strong>at</strong>ions. Both the Multi-Purpose High Bay and NBS (Building4705) <strong>at</strong> MSFC and the Crew Systems Lab (Building 7) <strong>at</strong> JSC are also classified as Type7: Engineering and Administr<strong>at</strong>ive Facilities. The l<strong>at</strong>ter is described in Section 5.3.7. TheMCC (Building 30) <strong>at</strong> JSC, also classified as Types 3, 4 and 6, is described in Section5.3.4 for its primary affili<strong>at</strong>ion as a Mission Control Facility; the SLF <strong>at</strong> WSSH, alsoclassified as Types 1 and 11, is described in Section 5.3.1 under its primary classific<strong>at</strong>ion,a Resource Associ<strong>at</strong>ed with Transport<strong>at</strong>ion (Type 1).
