Course DescriptionsITS255 IP TelephonyCredits: 3Co-requisites: ITS250Prerequisites: ITS152A fundamental course helping students add to their datanetworking skills and gain essential Voice over IP (VoIP)knowledge, learn how VoIP works, why VoIP works, and howto implement VoIP as part <strong>of</strong> a converged network. Technicalterminology, concepts, and non-CISCO devices are coveredto broaden the students’ knowledge base. The lecture portion<strong>of</strong> the class uses technical jargon and detailed presentationsto illustrate the subject matter. Products such as Wireshark,trixbox (formerly Asterisk@Home), Linksys Ethernet phone,SIP-based ATA, SIP-based Server, and PBX products fromBrekeke S<strong>of</strong>tware, Inc. are reviewed and discussed in light <strong>of</strong>their contributions to the industry.
