The students learnto recognize that the meaning <strong>of</strong> complex medical terms can bedetermined by analyzing simpler components using prefixes,suffixes, and word roots. Correct pronunciation, definition,and spelling <strong>of</strong> these terms are derived through extensive usage<strong>of</strong> the textbook, medical dictionary, and computer s<strong>of</strong>twareexercises. This course will also teach the basic structure andfunctioning <strong>of</strong> the systems <strong>of</strong> the human body including aspects<strong>of</strong> normal physiology and function, deviations from normal, andmaintenance <strong>of</strong> health. Archaeology uses many different approachesand tools to study and explain how people lived in the distantand not-so-distant past. Artifacts, sites, settlements, andlandscapes may be studied to help reveal how people lived, howthey saw themselves and their world, what the environmentwas like, and how these factors interrelated and changedthrough time. In this class you will gain an overview <strong>of</strong> whatarchaeology is, how archaeology is done, and what it can tell usabout our world - past, present and perhaps even a glimpse <strong>of</strong>our future.
