The course briefly reviewsthe historical context and the basic philosophical positions onconsciousness. It then explores scientific techniques to studybrain activity and cognition, the functional anatomy <strong>of</strong> the brain,unconscious versus conscious brain processes, volition, andstates <strong>of</strong> consciousness.
