Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science in Secondary Education - Industrial <strong>Technology</strong>The University <strong>of</strong> Montana Western (Dillon, MT) and The University <strong>of</strong> Montana – <strong>Helena</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Technology</strong>(<strong>Helena</strong>, MT) are collaborating to <strong>of</strong>fer the Montana Western Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science degree in Secondary Educationwith a major in Industrial <strong>Technology</strong> on the UM-<strong>Helena</strong> campus in <strong>Helena</strong>. Individuals in <strong>Helena</strong> and the surroundingcommunities can take classes through both institutions to complete their educational goal.<strong>Student</strong>s pursuing the Montana Western IT bachelor’s degree in secondary education will take classes from bothinstitutions; some individuals may want to earn an associate degree or certificate in a related technical area (fromUM-<strong>Helena</strong>) while completing requirements for the Montana Western B.S. degree. UM-<strong>Helena</strong> will <strong>of</strong>fer generaleducation courses and some technical course requirements. Montana Western will <strong>of</strong>fer industrial technologyand pr<strong>of</strong>essional secondary education coursework in their NCATE-accredited teacher education program.ADMISSION<strong>Student</strong>s wishing to enroll in this program must be admitted to Montana Western.New/Prospective <strong>Student</strong>Submit the following information to the University <strong>of</strong> Montana Western. Complete a general/uniform application for admission Submit ALL <strong>of</strong>ficial* transcript(s) from previously attended colleges and universities Submit pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> immunity against measles and rubella (two immunizations required, at least onemonth apart) Submit $30 application fee (waived if student has previously attended a unit <strong>of</strong> The University <strong>of</strong>Montana)Current <strong>Student</strong>If already attending UM-<strong>Helena</strong>, submit a Request for Transmittal <strong>of</strong> Application Materials Form (http://mus.edu/borpol/bor300/301.5.4_Request_form.pdf) to the Registrar’s <strong>of</strong>fice at UM-<strong>Helena</strong>. Contact the Montana Westernadmissions staff to determine if supplemental paper work is needed to transfer your file.Former <strong>Student</strong> - <strong>Student</strong>s who stop-out (have been out <strong>of</strong> school for one semester or more) must re-apply beforethey can continue in the program. These individuals must complete the “returning student” application.* “Official” transcripts are those sent directly from the previous college(s) to the Admissions Office.ADVISINGGary Frey, Montana Western Industrial <strong>Technology</strong> course instructor in <strong>Helena</strong>, will advise all students in theSecondary Education Industrial <strong>Technology</strong> program with respect to the required IT coursework.
